Divine intervention

There are a few wry smiles from Tony and his racing partner Pooba Govender at the moment - and they have good reason!

Part of a package deal recently purchased by the pair included the unraced Art Major mare, An Angel Divine, with a weanling colt at foot.

At Menangle on January 31, Divine State (by Tin TIn in America), the first foal of the mare, posted a sizzling 1:52.8 mile rate on debut to become the fastest 2YO colt to win in Australia.

"We bought the mare and foal in a deal involving four others," Tony said.

"I guess it would be fair to say we are both pretty excited with how it turned out."

Tony said An Angel Divine caught his eye, being a Kiwi-bred half-sister to the dam of Im Just Four You (1:55.3).

"Almost An Angel - the In The Pocket grand dam of Divine State - ranks as a full sister to Highest Honor (20 wins, $225,000), Hero (1:58.8, $132,000) and Kaos (1:58.1, $68,000).
