Every reason to be a future star

This good-looking colt could be destined for something special, being out of the well-bred mare Thalassa (Stature-Irish Mail).

He's by the McCarthy stable star For a Reason and arrived at St Fort this week.

While Thalassa had limited success at the race track, she has proven talented in the breeding barn.

Previous foals include Double Event (winner of $165,00) and Express Pass ($80,000).

Thalassa is the full sister to Express Post, the winner of 11 races from 18 starts.  She won seven of her first 10, including the NSW Sires Stakes Final, for total earnings over $90,000.

Thalassa was only a one-racewinning mare, she has proved her worth in the breeding barn, with previous handy foals including the multiple Menangle winner, Double Event.

For A Reason was a superstar for the respected McCarthy clan, winning 27 races, 17 placings from 64 starts, for $1.1 million in stakes.

Some of his greatest wins that come to mind are in the 2013 Victoria Cup (group one) worth $400,000 and the 2014 Queensland Pacing Championship (of $200,000) where he stopped the clock in 1:56.4 for the marathon journey of 2680 metres
